ARMED hold-ups along the Bulolo-Wau Highway are on the rise and being committed by the same group of men, Morobe police commander Supt Alex N’Drasal says.
“We know that these crimes are being committed by the same suspects,” he said.
N’Drasal said after receiving reports from Bulolo police, he directed his men to raid areas where the men were suspected to be hiding out.
He said in the process, a criminal, Jabiro Epi, 22, from Ono village in Waria local level government, wanted for armed robberies, murders, break-ins and stealing and causing grievous bodily harm was shot.
“His other four accomplices were also arrested and charged for armed robbery and hold-ups along the highway,” he said.
Those arrested were brought to Lae and locked up at the police cell on Tuesday.
