Police officers to work in PNG foreign missions

POLICE officers are to be deployed in all Papua New Guinea foreign missions following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade Ambassador Michael Maue and Commissioner of Police Gari Baki on Jan 4.
The signing last Friday marked a significant milestone for both parties to fulfill the need for synergies to be developed between government agencies to strengthen the responsibilities of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Law enforcement.
Under this new initiative, young prospecting police officers will be seconded to foreign-based PNG missions as counselors to help in all facets of key Government responsibilities.
The missions would use this opportunity to broaden its ambition of fostering bilateral cooperation, networking and collaboration with law enforcement agencies of other countries where PNG foreign missions are present.
