POLICE shot a man allegedly involved in injuring three others and kidnapping a woman during an armed holdup in Angoram, East Sepik.
Provincial police commander Chief Superintendent Albert Beli said the man had stolen K310 in cash and vanilla beans from people on Feb 9.
Two other suspects were also arrested and now in police custody in Wewak.
Beli said five armed men entered the premises and ordered the victims to lie on the ground.
“They then demanded money and inflicted injuries on them,” he said.
“The suspects then took K310, a quantity of vanilla beans, a chainsaw and clothes.
“They destroyed the properties, kidnapped a female and escaped.
“They released the female the next day.” Beli said police shot one of them in the leg and recovered two guns from him.
“Two others, one of them an escapee from Boram prison, were arrested while two are still on the run.”
