Police told to re-arrest rape suspect

LAE magistrate Pious Tapil has ordered police to re-arrest a 38-year-old man charged with allegedly raping his 12-year-old daughter.
“The accused was unlawfully released without a proper bail application and approval. Make it your (police) business to re-arrest the accused,” he added.
Tapil said everyone was trying to eradicate or stop gender-based violence and the father is roaming around freely, and also posing a threat to his daughter.
“These are the types of people who should be locked away and he should be immediately arrested and appear on in this court on Friday,” he added.
On Oct 25, the father went to Markham Bridge on hearing that his daughter had been allegedly raped by an uncle.
The father arrived at the scene, but he allegedly did not help his daughter and, instead raped her as well.
The neighbours noticed how weak the girl was, sick looking and also was in great pain.
They asked her what happened and she revealed what occurred in her grandparent’s house.
The girl was then helped by concerned neighbours to Networking Partners, a Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), who took her and cared for her.
