Police urged to complete file on double murder case

WAIGANI Committal Court Magistrate Paul Puri Nii has instructed police to complete the case file of a man charged with shooting and killing two men in order for the court process to proceed.
He told police yesterday that he would wait for the evidence and adjourned the matter to July 13.
Police investigators are waiting on forensic evidence (photographs) to be made available to complete the file.
Police alleged that at 11pm on Jan 19 last year Aaron Jonefi Virio and an accomplice drove a stolen car to 9-Mile Morobe Block in the National Capital District where they proceeded to hold up a bus travelling from Gulf into the city and rob the occupants.
Virio is alleged to have shot passengers Job Ananias and Absalom Tamu and injured others during the robbery.
Virio and his accomplice allegedly stole an amount of gold carried by the deceased as well as other personal valuables.
Ananias and Tamu were rushed to the hospital but died from their injuries.
The robbery was reported to police and Virio and his accomplice were arrested and charged.
