THE Port Moresby Netball Association (POMNA) will soon create history after 36 years when a new draft constitution is tabled at its annual general meeting this month.
The current executives, headed by Linda Ligo and her deputy Lua Rikis, have taken the initiative to update the constitution.
Ligo said she had taken the initiative to make amendments to the current constitution as the association had experienced a lot of changes in the sport since 1984.
“The administration, governance and technical aspects of netball has changed over time,” she said.
“This is the way forward for POMNA as it has reached a higher level in the country, being PNG’s premier netball association.
“There is a bright future ahead of us with our young group of executives headed by myself and Rikis.
“We will soon create netball history in Port Moresby and PNG.
“It’s not only about leaving behind a legacy but ensuring that we change with the times.”
Ligo thanked lawyer Shirley Pohei and Michael Ligo, who is also her husband, for setting the foundation for the draft constitution.
She also thanked lawyers Gomara Goru and Roy Mulina for their legal explanations in clarifying certain clauses of the draft constitution.
