Population growth

Letters

THE letter from Kupakin Jux, of Wapenamanda, is narrow-minded and lacks wisdom.
The writer disagreed with the idea to legislate to control population growth that is going over the rate of 3 per cent a year.
The assertion of the Bible on the Book of Genesis 1:28 is correct.
However, what it says is for man to exercise his freedom of will and make choices.
The writer said: “Papua New Guinea has a huge landmass and is not fully occupied by the eight million people.”
This is foolish and illogical.
The idea to legislate is the freedom of Papua New Guinea as a country to look into the future.
How can population be controlled to ensure improved health and education services, employment and a good quality of life for all Papua New Guineans?
Without population control, Papua New Guinea will end up with most, if not all, the natural resources exhausted.
What are Jux’s alternatives to controlling population growth in Papua New Guinea?
The rest of his argument is irrelevant.
We can see that other countries in Asia like India, Philippines, Bangladesh and nearly all countries in Asia are overpopulated.
They have run out of natural resources and are now coming to Papua New Guinea to rip us off.
Jux is unwise and thinks about himself only.
He wishes to have many children without any thoughts about the quality of education, health, employment, arable land for sustainable agriculture, food security and quality of life for the people of this country for the next 100 years.
The Highlands region is already over-populated.
There are tribal fights over land and other issues all the time.
Does he think about what we professionals are saying?
Like the professor stated in his speech about future dangers and the negative impacts of population growth?
