WOMEN’S National Soccer League Northern Conference runners-up Poro say they are confident of a positive result against Highlands champions and hosts Mommers in their quarterfinal tomorrow.
The match will be played at the Kimininga Police Barracks Oval in Mt Hagen.
Coach Troy Gunemba told The National that he was confident that home advantage would not be a problem for his visiting Poro.
“I am grateful that we have reached the finals,” he said.
“The team consist of many new faces this season, but their commitment and discipline has seen them step up to bring us this far.”
Despite producing some mixed results in the regular season, Gunemba said he was impressed with his players’ resilience over the last three round matches.
Gunemba said they were without striker Meagan Gunemba in their losses to Rainy Lae and Tusbab Laidamon.
“But I’m confident in my players for the quarterfinal,” the former Lae City Dwellers midfielder said.
“There will always be mistakes during football matches and it’s my job as a coach to make sure those errors are corrected for the next match.
“We are not underestimating Mommers as they are good side which is why they have topped the Highlands Conference.”
