PPL: Weather affecting work

National

PNG Power is not sure when power supply in Port Moresby will be fully restored, given the current adverse weather condition.
Corporate and Industrial Customers relations manager South and New Guinea Islands James Wila said bad weather had disrupted power supply in the city through load shedding, high voltage and broken cross-arm at various locations and substations.
He said workmen could not attend to all the faults at one time.
Wila said while they had been trying to identify faults and restore supply, “new break-outs are happening to transmission stations”.
“These are issues caused by bad weather and we are doing everything to get this resolved,” he said.
The major break-outs and feeders include the Boroko Feeder 7 because of emergency load shedding due to overloading, Kanudi Feeder 3 caused by trees and branches
falling on power lines, Waigani Feeder 2 caused by a broken cross-arm at the Waigani Substation, Boroko Feeder 1 caused by a high voltage line down at Two-Mile, a high-voltage line down at
Gaire Village, a high-voltage line damaged at Tubusereia Village and a pole down at Barakau Junction.
He said there were facing problems in other areas of the city.
