VETERAN Highlands administrator Ani Siwi has vowed fair, transparent selections for representative duties after he was elected unopposed as president of the Kundiawa Rugby League in Chimbu.
He was elected by the presidents and executives of the competition’s 13 clubs.
Siwi thanked the clubs for having confidence in him.
He assured them that he would do his best to help develop the league, which kicked off its season on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Pari Storm, from the Waiye local-level government area, received new uniforms from fellow Kamaneku tribesman Bernard Waim.
He warned his players to refrain from illegal activities.
“Sports help youths refrain from causing problems in their communities,” Waim said.
“Sports contribute positively towards the development of communities.”
Mende Korul, on behalf of the Storm, thanked Waim for sponsoring the team.
He said it was difficult for rural teams to secure sponsorship.
Korul assured Waim that the Storm would do their best to reach the grand final this season.
