Promote healthy lifestyle

CENTRAL Governor Robert Agarobe wants to focus on developing the agriculture and tourism sectors to help raise the standard of living and attitude of the people.
“The aim is to promote a healthy lifestyle and maintain discipline in communities,” he said.
Agarobe said this at a recent panel discussion on institutional public service delivery in Papua New Guinea (PNG), at Port Moresby.
“Communities must be on their best behaviour not only to promote a healthy lifestyle but to gain confidence from tourists,” he said.
“Agriculture is productive for the Government and country.
“People can be productive and contribute to nation building instead of loitering aimlessly waiting for handouts.”
He said sporting activities would be promoted for healthy interactions instead of getting involved in unhealthy and undesirable activities.
“We are working on a project to encourage families to go into poultry farming and garden farming for revenue,” Agarobe said.
“The project will be launched after we complete a survey report on the status of families in the province.”
Agarobe said coffee, cocoa and garden crops would be promoted in the province.
“We think this is the way to start something positive for communities instead of waiting for Government handouts,” he said.
