Legal issues regarding the development of the Ramu Two hydro project in Eastern Highlands and the landowners will be referred to the provincial legal office.
About 23 Integrated Land Groups (ILGs) met and agreed to let the Eastern Highlands legal officer handle all legal matters.
Integrated Land Groups officials in Anontu, Kafore and Arona valley met on Wednesday last week at Numutoka Lodge, near Goroka town, and decided to complete all ILG registrations this month and have a landowner umbrella company – to be called Ramu Two Holdings Limited – incorporated by March.
The landowners have called on the provincial government to help them register their Integrated Land Groups.
They are also seeking financial support from the provincial government.
Eastern Highlands administrator Samson Akunai and Governor Peter Numu have agreed to help each Integrated Land Groups get registered.
Akunai said he was in the process of appointing a provincial lands officer to deal with outstanding land disputes.
