TOP Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League referee Paul Wani has commended the use of microphones in games.
He said microphones were very useful in modern rugby league games.
Wani was in Goroka over the weekend for the PNGRFL National Super Nines tournament where 16 microphones were used for ease of communication on and off the field.
He said this also has improved the quality and standard of refereeing in the games.
This has made an impact on decision-making and was received with understanding and much appreciation, he said.
“And I commend PNGRFL for introducing the gadgets which is a good investment for the game.”
Wani is currently shaping up for the test match between Japan and China in Japan in June.
With 14 years of experience behind him, the 33-year-old from Pangia, Southern Highlands, is one of the games better known league referees.
