Report corruption, don’t be afraid

Letters

I SEE that people are scared of losing their jobs for reporting corrupted acts by their superiors.
Services such hospitals and the prisons continuously lack facilities and one wonders if limited or lack of funding is the only reason behind the lack.
It seems that institutions continue to blame the Government for lack of funding without considering other factors.
I am sure the Government does not overlook its institutions, it’s its duty to fund them.
I think the problem is with the management.
All State-owned enterprises, departments, statutory bodies and other institutions including their management should be reviewed.
Those that are not performing should be kicked out.
The people are suffering when you have something to work with but refuse to do so.
If the ones who witness corrupt acts do care about the people, then they should report them without fear.
There is no need to be afraid of telling the truth.
Many times, people choose to remain silent because they don’t want to lose their jobs.
I wanted take pictures of some facilities that needed some help from the Government but I was asked by a woman: “Why you want to take pictures?
“Do you want to build a new building here?”
That sort of attitude is another issue.
If you are serving in government institutions, please ensure you do your best and get the basics right before you continue blaming the Government.
