SUCCESSFUL leadership is grounded in strong personal values, Professor David Kavanamur says.
Professor Kavanamur was addressing those who received Economic Policy Analysis Course certificates at the PNG National Research Instituton Saturday.
He said the institute, as the leading policy think-tank in the country, had trained 27 people to help in providing solutions to the country’s public policy challenges.
The institute has been running the course since 1989.
The most recent one ran from Sept 18 to Oct 26.
“The target group comprised economists and non-economists interested in key government economic policies and other public policies that impact PNG’s sustainable economic growth and national development,” Kavanamur said.
He said many of those who went through the institute held top positions in Government, the Bank of PNG, the media and the private sector.
The programme covers the economy, macroeconomic and microeconomic policies, budgetary and monetary policies, infrastructure development issues, land and resources development issues, foreign trade, direct investment and aid, report writing, statistical and research methods.
Institute director Dr Osborne Sanida said the course was designed to promote a candidate’s knowledge on government development policies.
“The EPAC training curriculum is unique in its conception and presentation and attempts to present analysis of major government policies and how they impact on income creation, employment generation and development,” Sanida said.
