Reserve officers sworn in for EHP

SIXTY-five Eastern Highlands (EHP) reserve police personnel have been sworn-in at National Agricultural Research Institute (Nari) in 10-Mile, outside Lae, on Thursday.
Among the 65, six were females who raised their hands to take part in the five months training.
They were trained by four trainers from East Sepik, Morobe, Eastern Highlands and Chimbu.
Provincial training officer Chief Sgt Mack Josopath said the participants were taught the 52 training modules on policing.
“Other modules were taught one day or half a day, but it took us five days to teach them about court files preparation,” he said.
“So they should know how to prove to court the elements of a charge beyond reasonable doubt.
“We taught them that when a person is arrested and charged, there must be a very good court file compiled and brought forward to court.”
Josopath said that the court module was very important because it emphasised their role as reserve police.
He hoped the reserve police would do their job well because they were trained and taught for five months.
They would return to their province (EHP) to do policing there.
