Restore stability in public service

Letters

I URGE the Government to restore the much-needed stability in the public service machinery by making permanent appointments to all recently advertised vacant positions of departmental heads and provincial administrators by the end of next month.
Many government agencies without permanent heads have allowed political cronies in acting capacities to abuse so much budgetary resources without achieving any outcome.
The State organisations should be seen to be functioning with or without politicians as project managers.
Stability in the public service is paramount before the issuing of writs for this year’s general elections.
The ultimate responsibility lies with the prime minister to leave no critical decision of making permanent appointments behind if his legacy call to “Take Back PNG” will live on beyond 2022.
That journey starts with a simple step now.
