Reveal revenues

Letters

I REFER to the article “No impact on PNG LNG: Sonk” (The National, Aug 5, Pg34).
Many Papuan New Guineans know that KPHL is the country’s national company managing the State’s 16.57 per cent interest in the LNG project.
Many times, Sonk discusses oil price changes, number of shipments of LNG, the percentages of sales, etc.
But, he has never published figures in terms of revenue coming into PNG from the sales.
We, the ordinary people, want to know how much, in dollars, has come into PNG – the total income revenue per year or per shipment.
Some of us believe that revenue from this LNG project would have rescued this country from our financial mess a long time ago.
Is money being made from the sales from the shipments?
Can Mr Sonk tell the ordinary citizens of PNG how much we have made so far and what the annual revenue is or revenue per shipment?
Enough of percentage data.
We are tired reading about oil price changes, percentages of shipments, etc.
Why is the financial data being hidden?
I think the KPHL needs to be investigated immediately.

  • SK, FYI, all the LNG revenue is going to our creditors. Before we sold the gas, all revenue was mortgaged to those who Peter O’Neil’s government has borrowed money from. Revenue will start flowing into the country after all dinau plus interests is completely paid off. We don’t know after how many years that will be.

  • Em kampany blo 8 million pipol of this country. Ino private company.Mipela laik save mineral resources blo mipela lo kantri PNG igo way na moni kam na moni igo way? Ol moni igo lo wanamap? Or igo bak olsem invisible weather cycle chart again and again so that we cannot benefit from it? Apo KPHL save kilim yu.

  • Please can the government stop giving percentage figures but give exact cash earned annually because most of illiterate people cannot calculate percentage numbers unlike westernized countries.
