Roadworks expected to improve conditions

THREE road maintenance contracts worth more than K50 million each are expected to improve road conditions in Morobe, Northern and New Ireland.
Governor-General Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae, last Friday, executed the three contracts, all funded by the Australian government through the transport sector support programme, on behalf of the Government.
The first, a K64,996,036.80 contract is for the long term maintenance on the Wau Highway from Nine-Mile Junction to Pine Top Bridge in Lae.
Classic Engineering and Construction Ltd representatives James Steven and Moses Philip signed the contract in the presence of Works Secretary David Wereh.
The second, a K51,312,887 contract is for the long-term maintenance of the Northern and Kokoda roads from Babaru to the airport junction to Kokoda – a total of 163km.
EJ Sisters Limited representatives Tommy Kepa and R Mack signed the contract witnessed by Wereh.
The third, a K50,948,912 contract is for the long-term maintenance of the Boluminski Highway from Kavieng to Namatanai in New Ireland.
G-Man Construction Ltd representatives William Leves and Allan Dromence signed the contract in the presence of Wereh.
