FOLLOWING its establishment in January, New Ireland’s rugby league board has appointed interim executives to oversee the governing body’s operations in the province.
Board chairman Benjamin Wakip said appointments were interim chief executive Jeremiah Paissat, chief operating officer Ben Lenturut Jr and game development manager Gabriel Sigi. “The board recently met for its first official meeting,” he said.
“From the meeting, the interim appointments were made.
“We would like to congratulate the interim executives on their appointments.
Furthermore, the board and executives would like to assure New Ireland of our expanding player and support base.
“Rugby League is geared and will be working in close collaboration with the New Ireland government.
“We invite all stakeholders in the province to come together with a development aspiration for New Ireland through rugby league.” Wakip said the positions for the executives were being advertised with the board to consider applications for the chief executive and chief operating officer.
“The chief operating officer will be responsible for the operational excellence and day-to-day operations of the New Ireland Rugby Football League (NIRFL) and overseeing the bulk of the league’s development programmes,” he said.
