LEADING junior sports development programme, BSP School Kriket, received a K400,000 sponsorship from Bank South Pacific for this year.

The programme, managed by Cricket PNG (CPNG) reached over 150,000 children last year.

CPNG, alongside BSP, officially launched the 2016 BSP School Kriket programme at Pari Primary School, outside Port Moresby, on Friday.

During the launch, Barramundis players Charles Amini Junior and Lega Siaka taught the students basic cricket techniques of batting, bowling and fielding.

Cricket PNG operations manager Gayan Loku said they aimed to reach 6000 participants this year.

“We will be looking at improving the programme to cater for the different needs of students, teachers and volunteers throughout the year,” Loku said.
