UNIVERSITY of Papua New Guinea’s (UPNG) Seventh-day Adventist Church started its annual outreach programme to preach the word of God to staff and students in campus.
UPNG sabbath school leader Ronald Siegfried said: “We have been in the chapel worshipping from morning till the afternoon, so we have decided to change.’’
“This time we want to spend the first two to three hours with the students outside before going to the church chapel to spend the rest of the Sabbath there.’’
He also mentioned that the outreach programme is a lead-up to the PNG for Christ programme which will be held at UPNG from April 24 to May 14.
“The PNG for Christ programme is a discipleship evangelism campaign which would be held for two weeks at the back of the law school,” he said.
“The outreach programme is the preparation for this huge programme coming up and we would conduct the outreach programme every Sabbath at different locations in the campus.”
Siegfried said they started the programme last year and would continue this year.
“It is part of our evangelistic campaign and also the objectives of the Adventist Church that we try to achieve that by sharing the word of God with staff and students,’’ he said.
“This programme is not to indoctrinate students to join us or any other purpose, but for sharing God’s word.
“We are giving out books and Bibles which are spiritually enriching to help students and are funded by my department.”
