CENTRAL Province Premier League women’s sides GYG Estate Kokofas and Koki Amazon Bay Seagulls will face in the grand final at Murray Barracks Oval on Oct 14 after winning their semifinals over the weekend.
Kokofas beat Goilala Karukas 12- 4 and the Seagulls edged Goilala Nuggets 4-0.
The Kokofas first-half try was scored by lock Angela Parao to take a 4-0 lead. Parao organised the plays and drove the pack as they got the better the opposition.
In the second stanza, fullback Velroy Mabua joined the line to score out wide for an 8-4 lead.
The Karukas replied with a four-pointer from winger Susie Gurua to trail 8-4. The Kokofas put the final nail in the coffin when second rower Bonnie Murray barged over to bring the scores to 12-4.
Kokofas’ best were captain Iga Kere, Parao, Belinda Waula, Rosie Malabag and Benita Mai.
Halves Mai and Malabag combined effectively with Parao to set up tries for Mabua and Murray.
The Seagulls and Kokofas are first finalists in the women’s competition that started only this year.
