TWO men and two women died in a road accident in Chimbu, while police are looking for the driver who fled from the scene.
Provincial Police Commander Superintendent Jacob Singura said the accident occurred around 4pm on Wednesday at the Sigewake section of the Kundiawa-Gembogl road.
He said police were looking for the driver of the 10-wheeler unregistered public motor vehicle which had been operating between Pari and Kundiawa.
It went off the road and plunged down a cliff killing the four.
He said seven others were injured and admitted at the Sir Joseph Nombri Kundiawa General Hospital.
Apart from the incident, he said the New Year celebrations in the province were reportedly quiet as people went to church or attended family gatherings and sports activities.
Singura thanked the people for maintaining peace and harmony in the six districts of the province.
The special police operation will continue for some weeks. He urged people to stay out of trouble.
