NATIONAL Capital District Governor Powes Parkop has injected K5,000 to support the 8-Mile off-season league grand final.
Eight Mile off-season league president Wanpis Kaupa commended Parkop for the timely sponsorship during a presentation ceremony at the Lloyd Robson Oval yesterday.
Kaupa added the support was also part of a move to engage youths to participate in positive activities and refrain from illegal activities.
Parkop, a very strong supporter of sports programmes, has been allocating funds for the suburban nines tournament, the Morata off-season league and other off-season leagues competitions and sports in the National Capital District.
The suburban rugby league competitions have been a stepping stone for some of the raw talents in rugby league to expose themselves and  get the chance of being selected to a higher level of competition in the Port Moresby rugby league competition or the bemobile Cup challenge.
Reigning premiers Tawa Sharks will be out to defend their title when they clash with underdogs Souths Power.
Souths will be led by their captain Albert Patrick who has been their mainstay throughout their campaign.
“My boys have been given the undertaking to perform to their best to snatch the title of the current champions.
The winning side will  walk  away with K1,000 in prize money and the Cup while the runners-up will settle for K700.
