FORMER SP Hunters hooker Gahuna Silas has left Rabaul Gurias to join Central Dabaris for the remainder of the Digicel Cup season.
Dabaris coach Gairo Pepena told The National yesterday that Gahuna had been released by the Agmark-sponsored Gurias last month.
“Silas is with us,” he said.
“We actually named him in our team list for the round-five match against Port Moresby Vipers on Saturday.
“But he was carrying a niggling injury, so we dropped him.
“He will be available for us in the last four games of the regular season.
“We’re pleased to have him as he will add experience to the team.”
Meanwhile, Pepena said he was happy with utility Wallen Tau Loi’s performance against the Vipers.
Tau Loi scored a double and won the man of the match award while playing at lock.
“He performed really well against the Vipers,” Pepena said.
“He is a utility, he can play at five-eighth, centre, lock and second-row.
“He’s fast too.
“Wallen is a very committed young man, both on and off the field.
“Last week, his commitment and hard work showed on the field.
“He made an impact in attack and defence, and that’s what we wanted to see from him.
“We tried him at five-eighth in the previous game, but he didn’t really do well.
“He seems to be playing well at lock, so we put him there.”
Pepena said he was impressed when Tai Loi used his speed to score the last try which forced a draw with the Vipers.
