Sir Julius calls on MPs to exercise discipline

New Ireland Governor Sir Julius Chan has called on all MPs to exercise discipline.
Sir Julius said his position on the current political situation was simple but firm.
He said although he was not with the Opposition MPs at Vanimo due to his commitments in the province, he knew the team was hard at work.
“I stand for the good of the nation, my province and above all the good of the people of this country,” he said.
“Elected leaders cannot make laws and expect us to walk the road of saints.
“I support a good government and also the opposition I urge the people and I ask all the other members to do the same.
“Whether in Government or Opposition, we must win this battle. We must see change.”
Sir Julius urged Prime Minister James Marape to think about the future if he is allowed to continue.
“Do not cast (aside) those across the aisle but open the door to them.
“Declare a government of national unity, of national honour,” he said.
“Bring the best people from both sides and commit yourself to truly open a transparent government.
“I ask all of those who care about our country to join us.
“If you give a damn about our country then join us in these demands.
“Whether you are in Government or with me today, let us join together for change.
“Let us commit ourselves to change because the alternative is doom in the Waigani swamp.
“It’s time for us to be Papua New Guineans once again.”

  • If you want change give it to the new and up and coming leaders. PMJM in his short term and pass bill that will benefit us in the future. in the past we are poor in our own country but with the way this government is going giving back to the people of PNG our resource is the way to go. We as resource owners need to get from from our land. and the government need to cut down on just depending on tax to pay its debts.

  • Sir Julius, an old dog making a nonsense. Sir J knows very well that he is in the wrong group just becoz of his personal grudges with Ian Lingstucky, his blood line and he knows very well that he is too old to beat the treasurer. Only to justify his move, he has to say what he said in support of the opposition. Its a shame for Sir J.

  • Sir J barks but doesn’t bite; he sings, but he always hits the wrong notes.
His clock ticks but is outdated.
It’s about time we switch to a more preferable digital watch than a grand father clock…
    Tick, tok, tick, Tok.
With all due respect Sir, You time is up, it’s about time you should move on and allow the next Generation of Leaders to lead..!!

  • We thank Sir J for his contribution to the nation as a founding father, however he should consider quitting politics and relax, be at peace and give our young leaders to run this nation.

  • Sir J, you supposed to set things right in the first place.
Now, you’re just another old dog barking.
Thank you anyway for your efforts so far (since Independence). But I cannot forgive you regarding the Sand Line Crisis.! You were wrong there too.
Its best to stand aside and let the younger generations with good minds and the true heart for PNG lead. You all should be following people like PMJMarape, BKramer, KKua, GJuffa, ABird, ILStarky, and other transparent leaders not mentioned. All oppositions MPs have nasty histories. Are you guys in opps blind? Open your eyes all opps MPs. The truth is there. Follow PMJM. You can decide come 2022. Just let the system flow as it is. You cannot change anything now. It too late!

  • Sir J, what a NONSENSE… If you and the good Governor of NCD were smart in the head – putting NATIONAL UNITY’ first then both of you should have taken a neutral stand during the November 3rd yo-yo practice in Parliament. Just take a moment and see who is in your Opposition team… 95% of the Opposition team is comprised of CORRUPT and self interest serving MPs yet you people are talking as if you are ALL POLITICAL MESSIAHS AND SAINTS. PNC ranim kantri daun gut tru yet yupela pasim maus blo yupela stap na nau yupela pairap nogut tru as if you are all angels and saints….SAME ON YOU…PNG & THE WORLD IS WATCHING YOU. Even though PMJM was part and partial of the mess being created by PNC and coalition government, his [PMJM’s] government is trying to clean the mess so please Sir J stand with him IF YOU TRULY LOVE OUR COUNTRY-PNG.

  • last election the PO had a team of members in Alotau, and all members signed a MOU document, called “Alotau Acode Team”, then now at Vanimo, BN calls it the “Wutung Call to Action”, all signed a MOU to be a group.

must be groups of corrupt leaders

  • My assumption is that this so-called MoU comes with very suspicious terms and conditions… with the Alotau accord, no MP spoke or protest against the ruling party/PM and the current Opposition team is comprised of many of the same MPs and parties. Thus, the ‘Wutung Call to Action’ Accord is not for the benefit of this country but to safe-guard themselves from their corrupt past…
