Solar project to light up homes in Ijivitari

Papua

THE people of Ijivitari in Northern will have their homes powered by solar energy – thanks to MP Richard Masere for organising the K200,000 project.
Masere said the project is aimed at providing electricity through the provision of solar panels to homes in the communities.
“We identified some of the basic necessities that we take for granted in the cities, which our rural communities do not have,” Masere said.
“Our programme on solar and roofing irons is aimed at delivering everything within the five years. It’s all about improving the standard of the rural communities.”
The first lot of 100 solar units of K2000 per unit will be dispatched starting from the rural communities to the urban areas.
He said the project being funded using the district services improvement programme funding was being rolled out simultaneously with the roofing irons.
“For the solar we will be donating this to our rural communities, we will start from the rural areas and work our way into the town,” he said.
