Soto, Rex ruled out for Dabaris

CENTRAL Dabaris are looking to bounce back from last week’s loss to Mendi Muruks when they face reigning Digicel Cup runners-up Waghi Tumbe at the Santos National Football Stadium on Sunday.
Dabaris coach Steven Gunua told The National on Wednesday that hooker Presley Soto and Kaupa Rex were in doubt for the round-11 match due to injury.
The pair suffered the injuries in their 12-36 loss to the Muruks at the Lae Rugby League Ground last Sunday.
But Gunua said his men were prepared to host Tumbe despite the injury concerns.
He said his Central government-sponsored side were just one point off the top-six.
“Despite the loss to the Muruks, we are happy with our progress so far this season,” Gunua said.
“We just have to work more on our defence and completions.
“Our target is to make the top-six. The players know what we expect of them, so I’m confident that they will perform well in the remaining eight rounds.
“If Presley and Kaupa are unavailable then we have a lot of fringe players who are ready to fill in.”
