THE executives of the National South Basketball League tournament are intact.

These were the words from incumbent president Silas Nicky when responding to media reports from a group the new executive committee of National South Basketball League tournament.

Nicky fronted The National newspaper yesterday, accompanied by his vice-president David Peter and the games manager TJ Balupa, calling on their critics to come prepared for the forthcoming National Souths Basketball League in Port Moresby.

They said they were the founding members of the tournament and they had held on to the office for the past five years to protect it, and not to allow “anyone on the street” to hijack the famous competition.

“No one can claim the presidency or any executive position in Souths Basketball until the annual general meeting which coincides with the tournament in September.

“We have worked as a united front to bring NSBL to another level and also to promote the basketball and not any individual interest,” Nicky said.

The NSBL executive meeting at Ela Beach on Saturday endorsed the tournament to be held in September – presumably during Independence weekend in Port Moresby.

The executive has appealed to all clubs to get prepared for the tournament. The executives are now working to secure a sponsor.  For more information contacted Nicky on  70726809 or 71146446 or email: [email protected].
