SOUTH Pacific (SP) Brewery has launched its first tavern in its nationwide settlement tavern project.
The launching was at 9-Mile in Port Moresby.
SP Brewery corporate relations manager John Nilkare said the company would partner resellers to facilitate safe consumption of its products especially in settlement areas.
“It’s all about creating that relaxed environment that’s enclosed and safe to consume alcohol in,” he said.
“We at SP are committed in a very big way and have invested a lot in our campaign for the responsible consumption of alcohol by our customers with the tavern project also being a part of that.
“Responsible drinking is for our benefit and sustainability as a business and so it is important that we ensure that our customers are drinking responsibly and safely.” Tavern owner Moses Minalyio is confident that the project will promote safe drinking in areas such as the settlements.
“I really appreciate the initiative by SP Brewery to set up a place like this with the atmosphere and environment where people will sit down and drink responsibly and safely,” Minalyio said.
“I am the first tavern owner through this great and very good initiative by SP and believe that this is great idea to minimise problems that happen after drinking alcohol in communities like this.”
The project aims to be rolling out 100 taverns throughout the country
Three taverns have already been setup at Gaire in Central, Baruni in the National Capital District and 9-Mile Settlement.
