A SPONSORSHIP package for the ID24 National Capital District Eastern Highlands Offseason Rugby League will be presented at the Taurama Barracks Oval in Port Moresby tomorrow, says an official.
Major sponsor Derrick Mara will present the package and league president Benny Kene said he would arrange for other media outlets to attend the occasion.
Kene appealed to the top-eight teams and the public, especially Eastern Highlanders leaving in the city, to attend the event.
“We were delaying the top-eight matches because we were waiting for the package,” he said. “So after the presentation, the top-eight matches will proceed next week.
“So far, games have been progressing well. We’re into round 10 without any hiccups or major problems. I commend all the teams outside of the top-eight for being on their best behaviour. That is great sportsmanship.
“They were good all season. We have to understand that it’s not about claiming prizes or being the winner. It’s about building youths through the game they love.
“They will quit illegal activities like alcohol abuse and divert their attention to the game. This will allow them to become better citizens through the sport.
“In every game, we have to understand that there is only one winner and I urge everyone to accept defeat and come better prepared next season.”
Meanwhile, the field will be marked ahead of the finals.
