THE government of Papua New Guinea has guaranteed the three visiting countries taking part in the Under-18 Oceania Youth Olympic Qualifiers for hockey will enjoy the hospitality.
The countries are Australia, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. Vice Sports Minister Wesley Raminai and PNG Sports Foundation executive officer Peter Tsimalili Jr made these remarks yesterday.
“PNG isn’t as bad as you may hear or think,” Raminai told the teams during yesterday’s opening ceremony. “In fact Port Moresby is a lovely place where we have a lot of expatriates who live and work in the city. “In the Oceania region Port Moresby has one of biggest expatriate communities. “I want to assure our visitors that you’ll enjoy your stay here and play hockey and enjoy the experience.”
Tsiamalili Jr assured the visitors that they would enjoy the culture and hospitality of PNG and leave with fond memories.
