Background: The Tusbab Stallions are one of the new clubs in the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League.
The Tusbab Blue Kumuls compete in the Madang Soccer Association.
After competing at the member-association level, they realised the vast talent in Madang.
This led them to fielding a side in the semi-professional competition.
Some of the club’s players were drafted from the Besta PNG United or Papua New Guinea Football Association Academy in Lae.
They are players who add a lot of quality to the Stallions.
The Stallions manage the Madang Soccer Centre of Excellence.
Through this initiative, they had players like Ricky Wadunah, Berthy Kerobin, Stahl Gubag, Graham Berigami, Freeman Giwi and Kimson Kapai joining the Under-17 and Under-20 national teams.
Other players who have also represented the country at the U17 level include Jason Akaya Wadunah, Morris Devi, Butler Bossi, Jesse Mandari and Alex Joel.
Tusbab Stallions also have a programme that identifies talented soccer players and helps them continue their education.
Some players who have gone through the programme include Nigel Malagian, skipper Max sengum and Emmanuel Airem — who completed grade 12 last year.
Achievements: At the member association level, the Tusbab Blue Kumuls won the Madang Soccer Association grand final last year and have a good track record of making the finals since the merging of two separate clubs Tusbab and Blue Kumuls in 2004.
Wadunah is a certified coaching educator through the Asia Football Confederation.
This mean she is qualified to train coaches around the country.
Objective: The main objective of the Stallions is to develop more than just a football players.
They plan to use football as a development tool to transform uneducated or unemployed youths to become better and productive citizens of Madang and Papua New Guinea.
