Statement against Sir Peter irresponsible

Letters

presumptions by acting Teaching Services Commission commissioner-policy Joel Nava concerning the sidelining of the principal of Enga Teachers College.
He should be held accountable for his conflicting narrative and misinformation.
Subsequently, his remarks has tarnished the good name of Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas.
His statement is grossly irresponsible and unbecoming of a senior civil servant.
He failed to read between the lines of the letters signed by the governor.
The principal was sidelined pending investigation and the deputy principal academic was appointed caretaker principal, awaiting investigation.
Technically speaking, it is the head of the agency who signed the letter.
The Enga government is the sole agency of not one higher institution of learning, but three national institutions.
Enga Teachers College, Enga College of Nursing and the University of Goroka’s Enga campus are all offering degree programmes.
Whether one accepts it or not, Sir Peter is the head of agency not by choice, but by requirement of law.
The commissioner should have at least written to us to communicate his dissatisfaction on the matter.
It is absolutely unbecoming of a senior bureaucrat to go viral in the letters section of The National last Wednesday.
We suggest that the Teaching Service Commission either challenge the sidelining of the principal and the subsequent appointment of a caretaker principal in court or request the Education Department to carry out an urgent investigation into the allegations.
