Strive to serve people better, says administrator

MORE than 500 public servants under the East New Britain (ENB) administration have been urged to strive to serve the people better.
Administrator Levi Mano told them that effective implementation of services hinged entirely on their daily efforts.
“We stand here today to offer ourselves as public servants to improve service delivery to the 400,000 population in ENB and the entire population of Papua New Guinea,” he said.
ENB deputy governor and Pomio’s Sinivit local level government president Boniface Gerep emphasised honesty and a change in work culture to improve service.
Gerep emphasised the need to adhere to the established work schedules, urging public servants to arrive promptly and fulfil their responsibilities until the stipulated end of the workday.
“We are stealing from our people every time we don’t follow the proper conduct of the administration or government that we serve,” Gerep said.
He highlighted the significance of a mind-set shift, aligning it with the recent passing of the province’s K520 million budget.
Meanwhile, ENB Council of Churches chairman Pastor Anthony Kivung urged public servants to prioritise God in their lives and become better ambassadors in their communities.
