SOME teachers forget to clock-in when they arrive in the morning because they get distracted by student activities, a head teacher says.

Hane Charlie, head teacher of Ted Diro Primary School which is piloting the time and access system, said teachers began work as soon as they entered the school gate when they monitoring student activities and sometimes forgot to clock in.

“I kind of reminding them over the PA system to come and clock in,” he said.

Charlie said the school once used the manual system so that the school administration could keep a close watch on the teachers’ attendance and movements every day.

She told The National that they had a book which the teachers signed between 9am and 10am everyday as well as the staff movement book which the teacher filled in before leaving school.  She said the manual system had been very helpful to the administration.

But the time and access system will force teachers to be  in school on time because they are being monitored by the Teaching Service Commission.
