MORE than 400 students have attended a three-day Indonesian movie festival in Port Moresby to learn Indonesian Bahasa (language) and culture.
Indonesian education attaché Eddie Melatunam said yesterday that the festival was to promote Indonesian movies overseas.
“It is also to promote Indonesian diversity culture and 740 languages and cultural groups Bahasa which is becoming popular in PNG. This is also the first time for us to host the festival in PNG”.
Melatunam said the movies were shown at the Paradise cinema at Vision City from Wednesday to today.
Meanwhile, Melatunam said that two Indonesian scholarships were now open for young Papua New Guineans to apply to study at universities in Indonesia.
These scholarships are now offered to students to study in science, social science, humanities and engineering courses except for medicine.
