WAWIN National School of Excellence students have used their own contributions of more than K1,700 to donate items to children at Angau Memorial Hospital in Lae.
Student leaders of different denomination groups in the school donated food, reading books, toys, two electric jugs and wash basins to sick children and the children’s ward at the hospital last Saturday.
While donating the gifts, the students prayed, danced and shared bible verses with the sick children and their caregivers at the ward.
Teacher-in-charge of Tertiary Students’ Christian fellowship (TSCF) Daniel Korowa said students from different denominations of the TSCF, Catholic, Lutheran, Seventh-day Adventist and Baptist made contributions for the donations to the ward.
“It is part of our ministry, more like charity activity where our students were given an opportunity to make a donation,” Korowa said.
“The money was from thanksgiving offering from students during a fellowship early this year.
“We used the offering to buy gifts for the children who are in need and sick.
“It was from students themselves. We’ve spent more than K1,700 for all the items. We collected K2,500 from offering. Part of that money was used to buy guitars for local churches around the school. A sum of K1,458 was topped-up by the school and was used to buy the gifts.”
