STUDENTS from Namatanai Secondary School in New Ireland have called on the three MPs in the province to put aside their political differences and unite to serve their people.
In a statement read out during a peace and unity ceremony last Tuesday, the students urged Governor Sir Julius Chan, Namatanai MP Walter Schnaubelt and Kavieng MP Ian Ling-Stuckey to “hold hands together for our sake”.
“We are only students,” the student said.
“If you put your hands, minds, hearts and visions together, (this school) would be a remarkable and different place to be.” The three MPs did not attend the ceremony.
The ceremony coincided with the presentation of mis (traditional shell money), pig and taro to the representatives of the three MPs.
