A SUSPECTED serial killer from the Transgogol area of Madang, was killed during a dawn raid by Madang police on Friday.
Madang police commander (PPC) Supt Mazuc Rubiang said the deceased, Mical Bicus, from Baisarik village, was wanted for numerous murders in the Transgogol area of Madang.
Supt Rubiang said the most recent murder was that of a father and son killed at Baisarik village in last June.
Bicus allegedly had their heads chopped and displayed on a platform near the main road.
According to Madang police, it was the Bicus’ trade mark to have heads of his victims removed.
“Police approached Bicus’ location in the early hours of Friday,” Supt Rubiang said.
“Bicus’ barking dogs woke him up.
“He (Bicus) was armed and rushed out where he was shot and killed in action outside his house.
“The other suspects escaped into nearby bushes.”
Madang police also reported that a 26-year-old men from the south Ambenob area of Madang was slashed to death allegedly by six suspects on Saturday.
Supt Rubiang identified the deceased as Barnabas Isikel, from Umun village.
He said Isikel was on his way to Efu village at around 5pm on Saturday when the incident happened.
“The deceased was on his way to compensate his wife’s family at Efu village,” he said.
“The couple (deceased and wife) had had some problems prior to that and she had gone back to her family at her Efu village.
“However, he was attacked and chopped to death by his in-laws.”
He said no arrests had been made yet, but Efu village leaders had promised to have all suspects surrender today.
Supt Rubiang said the killing could have been another payback killing, which was on the rise.
