Takuali scoops dux award, dreams of becoming an engineer

Education

HUBERT Takuali scooped the grade eight dux award for Juni Primary School in Hela.
Takuali said getting good grades came naturally as he had been studying very hard and was obedient to his parents and teachers.
He hopes to continue grade nine at Tari Secondary School next year and study engineering at university so he could one day work at the Hides Gas Conditioning Plant.
Takuali was among 38 schools from within the PNGLNG project areas that received the dux support awards from ExxonMobil PNG this year.
Exxon Mobil PNG Community Development support manager Debbie Maraki said the programme was initiated to encourage and motivate students to focus on their studies and aim high.
“Education is always our priority in our project area because we believe that by educating the children of today, we are securing a better future for the communities we work in,” she said.
ExxonMobil PNG has been supporting dux awards for schools in its project areas since 2015. It also runs a science ambassador programme in schools to encourage students in studying science.
