Teachers must be good role models

Letters

I COMMEND teachers for their tireless efforts from 7.45am to 4.06pm, Monday to Friday, January to December, year in, year out.
You have done well to contribute much to the development of this beautiful nation despite the many challenges of living conditions, salaries and other entitlements, especially leave fares.
On the other hand, teachers have to maintain their professionalism.
Last Wednesday I went to the central provincial education office and saw teachers there enquiring about their leave-fare entitlement.
Most of them were unprofessional – poorly dressed with their mouth full of betel nut.
This is not being a good role model. Teachers are the only group of people who can positively influence our thousands of future leaders.
All governments, parents and stakeholders depend on you, teachers.
