THE Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) has begun preparing its two teams for the Women’s National Soccer League which is scheduled to kick off next month.
PMSA president Joseph Ealedona told The National yesterday that Port Moresby City and Port Moresby City Academy would carry the hopes of the country’s biggest soccer association.
“Port Moresby City will be the senior women’s side while our younger talents and developing players will be in Port Moresby City Academy,” he said.
“The majority of the players in these two teams are from our PMSA clubs but we’re still open to have more skilled and talented players come in and be selected to play.
“We have a technical group in place that has been taking the two teams for training for some weeks now.
“The group will decide the final squads prior to the start of the competition.
“We haven’t appointed coaches yet for the two teams but we’re looking at a few names.
“For now, the teams are going through fitness training and conditioning under Milton Gore.
“We would like to confirm our coaches by next week.
“We’re looking at having all-female coaching staff and management for the two teams.
“We have a good number of experienced and young players who’ve joined and we want to make sure we pick the strongest squads.”
