The National, Wednesday October 16th, 2013

THERE was just one  NRL player below the age of 20 selected for the Kumuls squad.

The Kumuls need NRL experienced players to match the other teams.

The last World Cup Kumuls team was dominated by so-called “homegrown” talents.

And we were beaten very badly.

We are the only country in the world that criticised the selection of the national team, especially when NRL players are selected in the squad.

The National published a list of NRL and super league players selected

to play for the smaller Pacific Island nations (Oct 7) such as Samoa.

So what are our home grown talented players going to do in terms of building their speed, fitness and skills?

This is not just about winning, but retaining our place among top-tier league-paying nations.
