A THREE-YEAR-OLD girl was recused last week by police and reunited with her family after a photo of her bruised and bloodied face went viral on social media.
Azora Malcolm was allegedly abducted when she was a toddler in Lae and taken to Port Moresby where she was left in the care of a woman from Western Highlands in 2020. A picture showing her bruised and bloodied face sparked public outrage.
It prompted members of the National Capital District Fox patrol 202 Alpha to go in and rescue the child at the ATS settlement, when news was posted on social media.
Her parents, who had never given up on her, were surprised to see their daughter on social media and flew into Port Moresby last week where they finally reunited with her.
One of the NCD Fox patrol 202 Alpha members said it was one of his proudest moments as a policeman to watch the family reunite after two years.
“When the child was placed in the mother’s hands, she was still in shock and couldn’t say a word, we all had tears in our eyes as the mother broke down and cried,” he said.
Police are currently investigating the matter, and will bring in the man, who allegedly abducted her, and the woman she was living with at that time when she was recused.
