Top options for grade 12 leavers

Letters

IF you are an unsuccessful grade 12 school leaver or a parent of one or two, here are some options to consider to help you upgrade your marks: Take up short courses and keep on searching for jobs or use your maths and English knowledge to become an entrepreneur.
Keep yourself busy.
I failed two times, so I took up a short course and upgraded with three different adult matriculation centres. I eventually graduated with a bachelor’s degree at University of Technology and won two awards in the process. I got three different job offers after graduation.
After grade 10 it took me nine years to enter Unitech as a first year student. Thanks to my very supportive village parents, who are now relaxing as my babies.
There are people who left the village for Port Moresby or other cities with very little money but ended up owning coaster buses, trucks, homes, stores, etc, and become very successful in life.
My point is, parents should have fallback options for their children, and be supportive and committed.
At grade 12 they are almost there and need only a bit more extra effort to get through. Don’t leave your grade 12 school leaver to concentrate on the younger ones at primary school because that will take longer and, more importantly, if you don’t try to get your children back into the system after grade 12 you might end up having all you children as grade 12 school leavers.
Learn from your mistakes and have a list of dos and don’ts. No turning back. Create an opportunity instead of waiting for one.
Remember that the Government has more than eight million people to think about, plus other international and national obligations. Do not rely on the Government but grab with both hands what the Government has already provided.
We as parents and adults need to find our way out.
