THE top two teams will decide the Pacific International Hospital indoor cricket Cup this Saturday, weather permitting.

National Teachers Insurance Limited and Puma Energy will play in the men’s grand final, while Avis will take on Tent for the mixed title.

Last weekend’s semi-final matches in the men’s, mixed and the grand final for the plate were washed out.

In an email to teams, committee member Navu Maha said the Port Moresby Cricket Association playing rules had been applied to determine the grand finalists for the cup men’s and mixed divisions.

Under the POMCA rules, teams higher on the points table advance to the grand final if the semi-finals are washed out.

That meant third and fourth-placed teams were eliminated.

For the plate, first-placed teams Avis (men’s) and NTIL (mixed) have been declared winners.

First-placed NTIL and second-placed Puma Energy will do battle in the men’s and Avis, with the men’s plate already under its belt, taking on Tent for the cup mixed title.

Rain denied ANZ and Digicel a plate bid and Tent and PAG for a men’s grand final spot.

In the mixed, SCAL and PAG were eliminated as they finished third and fourth.

Maha said if the grand finals were again washed out this Saturday, they would be played on February 27.
