Traffic fines still puzzling

IN The National on Wednesday reported NCD Traffic Police Commander Christopher Tamari as saying that the penalties for traffic offences are K500 per count and K300 per summary offences.
Please explain to us what the amount is for?
Police officers normally get that money without giving us a receipt.
My concern is, what offence should the offender pay that amount for?
