Transport issue delays proceedings

ALL cases at the Waigani Committal Court were yesterday adjourned to various dates after police prosecutors did not turn up in court because of transport issues.
A court official, who requested anonymity, told The National that court officials and magistrates were available to progress cases but the non-attendance of prosecutors forced them to adjourn all the cases.
“Prosecutors have been facing transport issues so that is the reason why they are not here today (yesterday),” the official said.
“Magistrates, court officials and prisoners are here but how can we proceed without prosecutors?
“So all the cases listed (for yesterday) were adjourned to today, Friday and Monday as instructed by magistrates.”
All prisoners were taken back after their remand warrants were organised.
